Mallusk Enterprise Park gets set to open brand new cafe at Newtownabbey Business Centre

Local Enterprise Agency, Mallusk Enterprise Park is getting ready to open a brand new 800 square ft coffee shop in the grounds of its 50,000 square ft industrial estate which is home to over 60 local businesses, 2 conference and training rooms, a co-working space and serviced office accommodation.

The social enterprise with charitable status is making the £50,000 investment in hospitality in order to enhance the on site experience for the 258 staff that work within the park and the hundreds of visitors that attend business events in its conference and training facilities. The cafe is one project within a larger £500,000 investment master plan that the leadership team announced at the start of the year.

With a focus on sustainability the 18 seater coffee shop fit out, which combines 2 on site units, is being completed by tenants of the enterprise park, D&D Joinery, with the new enterprise supported by design and print tenants Douglas Designs and Print Tec.

Due to open officially on 5 December 2023, Mallusk Enterprise Park’s investment in the new social enterprise which will be called ‘B Social Deli’, will create 3 brand new jobs for the local area, a number of training and upskill opportunities for the economically inactive and supply chain deals for local entrepreneurs too.

The new cafe will provide a bright, warm, and contemporary environment where customers can enjoy their favourite handcrafted drinks and savoury and sweet artisan food in comfort.

Not only that, but the investment brings with it a range of innovative new digital features to provide a seamless customer experience. Digital menu boards will make browsing the menu easier than ever, and a planned Click & Collect service will give customers the chance to order in advance and collect on-the-go. Making the deli an ideal proposition for tenants and customers requiring catering for the dozens of events that run on site in the conference, training and meeting room spaces.

Commenting on the opening, CEO of Mallusk Enterprise Park, Emma Garrett, said:

“We can’t wait to unveil our new coffee shop in such a prime location within Mallusk Enterprise Park. We’ve put our customers and community right at the heart of our uplifting new cafe experience. Our brand new team members, all of whom live in the immediate area, are excited to start serving perfectly crafted coffee and tasty treats in our new space. We will run the B Social Deli as a standalone social enterprise, with all profits to be reinvested in supporting the economic prosperity of the Newtownabbey community.”

Mark Spence, Vice Chair of the Mallusk Enterprise Park Board of Directors adds:

“We look forward to seeing Mallusk Enterprise Park’s 2024 strategy and vision come to fruition. The team behind the ‘B Social Deli’ are working hard to get the eatery open in time to serve an attractive offering to the hundreds of workers onsite, event go’ers and the local community. It remains an exciting time for the enterprise agency and this completes an ambitious £500,000 refurbishment and expansion which included the development and launch of the new Mallusk Enterprise Hub conference, meeting and co-working spaces only a year ago. This year we have also welcomed lunch and learn events to the business centre, this alongside business start up and growth support programmes such as Go Succeed, will bring more people than ever before onto the Newtownabbey site and we trust that the ‘B Social Deli’ will further strengthen our reputation as an ideal business meeting and events venue. When someone chooses Mallusk Enterprise Park they are buying social and supporting our mission to develop and grow local entrepreneurship.”

The new B Social Deli and Cafe will be located in Unit 45, right at the entrance/exit point of the business park. Customers can avail of free on site parking and the coffee shop will open from 8am to 3pm Monday to Friday. The menu, which includes both hot and cold wholesome breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea options, is designed to support a local supply chain and will initially feature specialty coffee by Jonstons coffee, alongside Hendersons Food Service, with artisan bread, traybakes and scones provided by French Village. The new venture also aims to offer showcasing and sales opportunities to new and growing food entrepreneurs from the surrounding area.
