Fully funded Food Industry (Team Leading and Management) ApprenticeshipNI programmes

The Food Services Industry is experiencing a skills gap at lower management levels* and the ApprenticeshipNI in Food Services (Team leading and Management) are aimed specifically to meet these gaps.  The framework of qualifications will equip supervisors or team leaders with the tools and techniques needed to support teams and drive food production improvements, efficiencies and processes within your business.  With People 1st and the Department for Economy (DfE) funding, staff can gain a nationally recognised qualifications.

Subjects covered include:

  • Planning and allocating work for a team
  • Developing and deploying an operational plan
  • Support the development of objectives and KPIs
  • Monitor and control throughput
  • Lead team briefings
  • Problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Product changeovers
  • Carry out task hand-over

We are now in a position to meet with employers and candidates to start the process of recruiting for this new programme.

Eligibility:

o    Candidates can be any age to apply for this apprenticeship

o    Candidates must be employed and contracted to work at least 21 hours a week

o    Candidates must attend training as is required for their qualifications

o    An employer can have 1:5 of their staff completing Apprenticeships at any one time

Qualifications completed:

Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Food Team Leading, progressing to Level 3 Certificate for Proficiency in Food Management

Candidates will attend a series of 3 hour workshops to cover the theory related to the industry.  In addition, an Assessor will be allocated to each participant working together in the workplace to complete assessments of the candidate performance.  Assessments are completed using digital methods and are added to an e-portfolio.  This allows all of the candidate’s work to be held securely and safely ensuring no paperwork leaves their organisation. Level 3 is for candidates who have already completed Level 2 and who are moving to a management role in their organisation.

Essential skills: Application of Number and Communication

If candidates hold a GCSE in Maths and/or English at grades A – C, they may be exempt from this element of the programme.  We will require a copy of the certificates to claim these exemptions.  If essential skills is required, we will allocate each participant a series of classes to help them complete these important qualification.

Employers will receive an incentive from DfE of £250 – £500 for each person who completes their full Apprenticeship programme.
